This is a True 5 Star Dining Experience
This small cafe is the real deal. The food is amazing. Looking for a local place to eat, non tourist, that was close to where I was staying while in Savannah recently led me to Sweet Spices – foods so flavorful and cooked with such passion that it comes across in every bit. I highly recommend the sampler, my dinner companions said their meals were exceptional as well, one ordering the fried chicken (which is cooked fresh to order and takes about 20 minutes) I was told was pure perfection. The other ordered the market fish special which was red snapper fried whole with the head and said it was equally as tasty. For my sampler I chose the jerk chicken, brown stew chicken and the ox tail my two sides, the Mac and cheese, and the cabbage and carrots it was all delicious and I found myself sucking the sweet spices off the bones of each meat and my sides reminded me of amazing home style cooking. Try the ginger pineapple drink if it’s on the board for the night – light refreshing and delicious. The place is very small about 18 or so seats maybe – consisting of four or five three tops and two two tops. It was packed the night we ate there and people were waiting outside the door. There is a to go counter and people came in and out the entire time we were there taking out to go orders. This little green is a must try when you find yourself in Savannah and you want some great authentic Jamaican food. The owner, Donavon is very hands on and stopped by to check on us as well as all the other diners, this added personal touch made us feel like we were eating with a family friends. The staff are all friendly and attentive. This is a true 5 star dining experience. Dinner for three with a tip $50.
